7th July. It was a glorious sunny winter's day in Nambour. A friendly gathering in a lovely garden setting with delectable culinary treats created by those wonderful women of the CWA. Guests mingled on the lawns and afterwards dined in the marquee whilst enjoying the beautiful music of the Offenbach Strings. A fine occasion to meet Debbie Blumel, Labor candidate for Fairfax. a wheelchair? This is the life story of Marayke,
25, who was paralysed in a car accident at just
eight months of age. Marayke is currently in
training for the 2008 Beijing
Paralympics and
hopes to pursue a career
in TV presenting and
modelling as she believes
people with disabilities
should be better represented
in the media.
